With a strong customer focus, I’ve always been motivated by solving problems for other people.
From a very young age, I had a strong interest in computers and technology. Before finishing high school I had developed my very own CAD system using nothing but assembly language… yes, for some that makes no sense at all, but for others, they’ll probably see that as a really “geeky” thing to do.
I guess I’ve always been a little “geeky” but I’ve also had a strong interest in the Arts and Sport… which kinda makes me a little less “geeky” than some… I think?
Over the years, my sporting passions have included cycling, basketball, rugby, Aussie Rules, tennis and the list goes on… I just love all types of sport. But these days, I mostly just cycle… If you happen to spot a husband and wife riding a tandem bike together around Hervey Bay, then it’s probably us.
With the Arts… I was drawing and painting before I could even read properly. Winning competitions and amazing family and friends… I loved all things “art” and developed a strong interest in photography, graphics arts and sign writing. But my interest in computers lead me to choosing a career in IT, rather than art.
In more recent years, I’ve used my artistic skills in the areas of photography, graphic design and web development. For which I now run a second business called Criss Cross Creations (www.crisscrosscreations.com.au).
I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Informatics (ie. Information Technology) from Griffith University in 1991. With this I entered the workforce as a first level customer support person and database programmer. Supporting one of the largest not for profit organisations in QLD. It wasn’t long before the role expanded to network and database management and then to the role of designing, installing and managing one of the largest single networks in the country.
After 15 years of working for someone else, I decided to start my own business… Initially, I started out using my artistic skills to establish “Criss Cross Creations”… Then in 2009, we decided to move to Hervey Bay and it was here that I returned to IT and established “Alan’s Computer Services”. With only a small number of letterbox drops in early 2010, I’ve continued to get new customers simply from word of mouth.
To be honest, hard working and helpful… in everything I do.
An Honest Person… is someone who can be trusted to tell the truth, never over charge and never blame someone else for my own mistakes.
A Hard Working Person… is someone who goes the extra mile and continues to give their best effort, no matter what.
A Helpful Person… is someone who always wants to help others in their time of need. They don’t give up when the going gets tuff… And even if they can’t fix something, they’ll try to guide you in right direction to find someone who can.
My mission is simply to achieve all of the above… without compromise! To always make sure my customers are happy with the work I’ve done for them… and if not, I won’t charge.
